mare a gennaio

Continua a splendere il sole a Palermo, il termometro segna sempre circa 20°, non ricordo un altro inverno così mite. Vi regalo una porzione di mare, così era ieri, trasparente, con queste gradazioni di blu.

The sun continues shining in Palermo, temperature is always 20°, I cannot think of another winter this warm. Please have a slice of sea: yesterday it was like this, transparent, in all its shades of blue.

Il papa assonnato

Immaginate la sorpresa nel girare l'angolo, da Piazza Magione verso Via della Vetriera, e trovarsi davanti questo gigantesco murales. Ieri c'era il sole e il prato verdissimo creava un contrasto cromatico molto forte che metteva in risalto il rosso del disegno.

Just imagine my surprise when I turned round the corner, going from Piazza Magione to via della Vetriera, and saw this huge murals. Yesterday was sunny and the color of the green, green grass created a strong contrast with the red in the picture.

In via Maqueda Alice ha aperto il nuovo punto vendita Mitzica.

natura morta

So che a molti questa immagine farà impressione...e mi dispiace, ma è un omaggio a Peter Greenaway.
Ho scattato questa foto al mercato di Ballarò, la scena mi ha ricordato subito il film che avevo visto la sera prima: Il cuoco, il ladro, sua moglie e l'amante...le teste appese sembravano la materializzazione delle nature morte a cui si è ispirato il film e il provare la stessa sensazione di spiazzamento nel guardarle mi ha spinto a fotografare.

I know many will be horrified by this picture. And I am sorry about it, but it is a tribute to Peter Greenaway.

I have taken this picture in the Ballarò street market because this scene immediately reminded me of the movie I had seen the night before: The cook, the thief, his wife and her lover... the hanging heads seem a materialization of the still lives the film inspired to, and they caught me off guard just like it happened in the movie. This is why I just HAD to take this picture.

Politeama

Anche Piazza Politeama è illuminata nel periodo di Natale. Ho scatato queste foto da aggiungere alla serie sulle luci più belle della città.

via libertà

Via Libertà è una delle strade più belle e centrali di Palermo. Ispirata ad ideali razionali ottocenteschi, ricorda nella sua struttura gli Champs Elysées parigini.
Nel periodo natalizio le enormi chiome delle due file di platani secolari (circa 400 in tutto), che percorrono l'intero asse, vengono riempite di luci fittissime...la sensazione è quella di attraversare una lunga galleria illuminata.

Via Libertà is one of the most beautiful streets in town, right in the heart of Palermo. It was inspired by XIX century rationalist ideals and its structure reminds of the Champs Elysées in Paris. Once it was filled with aristocratic villas, including some remarkable examples of Liberty archtecture, but today just a few of them are still there. At Christmas the enormous crowns of the two rows of centuries-old planes (around 400) running along the street are crowded in lights... it makes you feel as if you were walking in a long gallery of light.
