Non si può parlare di Palermo senza ritrarre le persone che la abitano...i volti dei siciliani sono diventati quasi delle icone, forse un pò folcloristiche...e i mercati sono i luoghi in cui si trovano i volti più caratteristici. Ho scattato questa foto mentre passeggiavo al mercato di Ballarò.

You cannot describe Palermo without portraying its inhabitants... the faces of Sicilian people are almost icons, maybe a little bit folkloristic, and markets are surely the place where to find the most unique faces. I took this photo while taking a walk in the Ballarò street market.

So che a molti questa immagine farà impressione...e mi dispiace, ma è un omaggio a Peter Greenaway.
Ho scattato questa foto al mercato di Ballarò, la scena mi ha ricordato subito il film che avevo visto la sera prima: Il cuoco, il ladro, sua moglie e l'amante...le teste appese sembravano la materializzazione delle nature morte a cui si è ispirato il film e il provare la stessa sensazione di spiazzamento nel guardarle mi ha spinto a fotografare.

I know many will be horrified by this picture. And I am sorry about it, but it is a tribute to Peter Greenaway.

I have taken this picture in the Ballarò street market because this scene immediately reminded me of the movie I had seen the night before: The cook, the thief, his wife and her lover... the hanging heads seem a materialization of the still lives the film inspired to, and they caught me off guard just like it happened in the movie. This is why I just HAD to take this picture.
